New life, new start, and a school full of mysteries.

We can say, that Avaline Hall's life wasn't easy. At the age of seventeen, she already buried her mother, took care of herself and survived a factory fire, saved by a mysterious boy, and not to mention, that after these she escaped from an asylum. However now everything started to change, when a few things turned out from her mother and Ava was accepted to an elite boarding school, the Blythewood Academy. The girl is happy, but also afraid, that her new classmates will not accept her because of her past. And why her mother never mentioned this school, moreover, why was she expelled from it? So many questions and even more secrets. But Ava feels, thar she will find the answers in Blyhtewood. What she doesn't know, that her new school also has its secrets. To make things more complicated, a sinister man, who breathes smoke, seems to pursue her... And Ava starts searching for answers, no matter how dangerous it is.

A boarding school full of secrets, in a mysterious forest. And of course magic. I really loved the main plot, and after reading it, I could not wait to start the first novel of the series. Definitely book one was my favorite. I liked the mood of it, and as earlier said, the setting with the school in the forest. However the first part of the story, before attending Blythewood Academy, it was a little boring after a time and Avaline, the main character, was annoying. She constantly felt sorry for herself that, how hard her life was and how different she is from her schoolmates, instead of just being happy and grateful that things changed for the better. But anyway I enjoyed reading the books, even that there were things, I not liked, they were still interesting.

Shortly, even that the first part of the first book was a little boring and Avaline, the main character could be annoying, I really enjoyed reading Carol Goodman's Blyhtewood series. I liked also the main plot and the mood of the novels, I will reread them again later. Blythewood is a good series, which I can recommend, mostly if someone likes fantasy.
