Katie Writes Fantasy

You never know, what waits for you. Jaya Patel and Sebastian Beaumont definitely got a surprise when they became a trending couple because of an accident. Jaya was too busy with her work as an at-risk youth consuelor and Sebastian focused at his career as a rising hockey star. Until one fateful night. Now everybody thinks that they are dating. Both of them would ignore this misunderstanding, however an important fundraising depends on them. For the success, Jaya and Sebastian agree to play the happy couple. But will it stay fake, or it will become something real? And are they going to be able to stay together, or this love campain will need a miracle?

When I had read Passion's Players, one of my favourite characters was Sebastian, so I was very excited to read Love Campaign. The plot was interesting, I liked that it is entertaining, but also touches serious, problematic topics too. The characters were also good, Sebastian showed us an even sweet, vulnerable side of him and he and Jaya were a great fit. Even that I guessed what will happen, the book could surprise me and it was a very entertaining read, I enjoyed every page of Love Campaign.

Shortly, I liked Laura Marquez Diamond's Love Campaign very much. It was an interesting, entertaining book, which I recommend to everyone, who likes romance, or just a good read. However I would add that, since the book has mature content, I do not recommend it under 16 years.

Arcana Of The Crimson Era: Red Moon is the first novel of Sein Ares and the first book in the series 'Red Moon'.  Sein Ares introduces a fascinating, but dangerous world in this fantasy novel.

The story starts with a simple mission, but as always, nothing is as easy, as it seems. Soon our heroes facing new dangers and enemies. As the tale moves, we meet with lots of unique and interesting characters, some good, some evil.

I really liked this novel, Sein Ares created a unique world, full with mysteries. His magic system made me wonder, what would I be in this universe, with what kind of abilities. I found the characters good, you were cheering for them through the book. As a first part of a series, the story left us with a lots of questions, wanting more. I have to say a warning here, that even that Red Moon is a good book, if you are sensitive, maybe it is not for you. It  is rated R18 for adult situations, graphic violence, harem relationships and mentions of rape.

Shortly, Arcana Of The Crimson Era: Red Moon by Sein Ares was a good and interesting read, with unique world, fun characters, twists and mysteries. A fantasy book, which I can recommend to every fantasy fan, who would read a darker story.

Meet Five, the lead singer of the Romford Bombers, a Gary Numan act band.

Life is not easy, even if you are a singer. Five knows this well. Next to being a singer, he takes care of his family, cooking for them, strictly vegan menus, and he is a walking pharmacy, with all of the notes , who needs what medication. Things get more bad, for the already depressed Five, when his girlfriend, Tina, leaves him. For Ross, the leader of the Storm Troopers, a rival band. And the Numan Tribute Battle Of Bands is also coming... But Five and the Bombers are ready fight to win the contest. Or not? Can things get even worse?

Nicky Blue's Numan Versus Numan was a dark comedy, which made you laugh, sad and in the very end surprised. No matter, how much you feel sorry for the characters, you can not help smiling on the situations. I quite liked, that next to changing of point of views, the book had pieces from Five's diary, and messaging between the characters. Through these, I felt closer to the characters and the whole story felt more alive for me. They just spiced it.
Another thing I really liked, was Five himself. I admired his determination and that he never gave up. And yes, the ending was really good! As the story moved faster and faster, I had my guesses, what will happen, but in the end it surprised me.

Shortly, Nicky Blue's Numan Versus Numan is a dark comedy worth to read. Next to the plot, which keeps you curious, what will happen to Five and his band, the story is spiced with the right amount of comedy, drama and surprises, without becoming cliche. I can recommend Numan Versus Numan to everyone, who likes dark comedy, or just searching a good book.

The story of Sunny and Jo continues, where it stopped in the end of Crown Of Sunlight.

The second book of the Corvinus Chronicles gives us the same amount of adventure, romance and surprise, like the Crown Of Sunlight.
After an interesting, new information at the start, before we jump back and see the fate of our heroines. Sunny and Jo try to survive in the palace, meantime they plan to escape. They have to act fast, because the Dark King also has his plans with the sisters. Meantime this, Seren Reed, a Watcher, informs his friends about a possible future he saw and that they have to save Sunny and Jo. They go to the infamous Wastes, the land of criminals. Now the fate of Writhia is in the hands of the group, who has to fight with monsters and new enemies to protect everyone.

The second book of a series often became a disappointment to me, it could not keep me the same curious and the story could become too easily predictable. Payton Taylor's Palace Of Moonlight was definitely not like this. The new adventure was interesting and I loved to learn more about Writhia. The Wastes was a mysterious, dark place, which fit really well to the mood of the book and to the story.
I learned more about the characters curiously and their relationships, how they changed through the book. Now knowing more about Leo Cassavant, officially he is my favourite, I can't wait to see, what happens to him in the third novel of the series.
The story had more surprises and twist, which you would not guess and I really liked the ending. It gave answers to more of my questions, but meantime created new questions.

Shortly, the second book of The Corvinus Chronicles is the same gripping, like the first part of the story, Crown Of Sunlight. It keeps you wanting to know more and more. It is a great read, and a must, if you have read the first book.

A new world, with secrets and dangers. An evil king. And two girls against him. The Thief. The Murmur.

Sunny and Jo lived an everyday, boring life. Until one fateful day. The sisters first don't want to believe, that they were magically transported to another world, but soon they realize, the surprises not ended with this. Writhia is a beautiful, but dangerous world. Just after arriving, strangers chase the confused Sunny and Jo, who got from a trap to trap, wherefrom they get away only with making a dangerous promise. When the girl at last find some helpful people and shelter in a city, new secrets, surprises, and more questions wait them. Who would have thought, this strange world is their real home? But no matter what, the sisters want to get back to the Earth, where they grew up and they have a plan. As also the Dark King. He kidnaps Jo, and Sunny knows, they have to fight with everything they have, to survive. To save her sister, Sunny allies with the general of the enemy, who promise her not only help, but to teach her, how to use her gift.

I love good fantasy and Payton Taylor's Crown Of Sunlight was a great read. It had everything I wait from such a novel, interesting characters, magic, secrets and romance. And a world, about what, I can't wait to get know more. I enjoyed every page of the book, the twists and the end, which was teasing my curiosity.
Crown Of Sunlight is the first book of The Corvinus Chronicles, which is already a good start, because I love, if a storynot ends after the first book. One of the things, which I really like in Crown Of Sunlight were the creatures. They were unique and made the story more interesting. I really hope, in the other parts of the series, we will get know more from the inhabitants of Writhia. What was another unique  and fun thing for me, that you can find not only magic, but technique too in this world. The magic and science made a good pairing, mostly with the magic system. Which I truly love. We got used, that in fantasy stories the characters have a magical ability. Nor the Crown of Sunlight is an exception. But here, people have a unique magical gift system, which I found really fun.
The story had parts, which were easy to guess for professional bookworms, but it was not cliche and too predictable. No matter how much you guessed, the book still surprised you and kept you curious. The characters, the twists and the plot all made you fall in love with Writhia and cheer for our heroines, Sunny and Jo. Even that, I have to admit, my favourite is Leo, so far.

Shortly, Crown Of Sunlight was a great novel. It has fun, interesting characters, a unique world and secrets and surprises, which make you wanting more. I can recommend it to every fellow bookworm, mostly, if you like fantasy. I can't wait to read the second book, Palace Of Moonlight!

Some wounds can never heal. Or maybe can?

Frances Paul's fourth book, Sea Of Scars is the story of Zachary Reid, a former Marine.

Zachary is wounded. Badly. The only problem is, that his wounds and scars are much deeper, than on his body. His mind and soul, which needs healing. Sadly this is a little more difficult than healing the surface. Because of his PTSD, he has often nightmares and blackouts, wherefrom waking up is never pleasant. At this point, his family life is also in ruins, Alison wants divorce. The physical, mental and emotional abuse from her husband and the fear, what if his next victims will be their children… She just gave up fighting for their life together. Zachary is forced to seek help, even that he has no hope anymore. Everything is broken beyond repair. His mind, his family and his whole life. And one faithful day, he meets the beautiful and mysterious Courtney…

Will Zachary get another chance to live a normal, happy life? And Courtney, who has her own demons to run from, will be able to change Zachary? To heal his wounds? Or Zachary's condition will scare her away?

Sea Of Scars was an interesting and emotional read, which, I admit, made me cry. Both Zachary and Courtney had a dark, heavy past and deep wounds, which maybe never heal, yet they kept trying, what I admired very much. They were both great characters, for who you cheer and cry. All the other characters were also well-built and all of them helped to shape the novel well, until the end. They felt real and you could see through their eyes too Zachary and Courtney, which gave a new side.
The story of Sea Of Scars was not only an interesting read, to see things from the viewpoint of someone, who has PTSD and was abused, but for those, who struggle with the same, or similar problems, it can give hope and strength. Frances Paul researched well the scientific backgrounds, and I learned a lot of new things from the book. PTSD and any form of abuse is an existing problem and Sea Of Scars shows a way to survive them, moreover revive from them and having a full, happy life. It is like a message in a way, to never give up, to fight and hope. Because you never know, what life has for you. As also Sea Of Scars has its surprises, which I will not reveal now.

Shortly, Frances Paul's Sea Of Scars was a good, entertaining novel. It was emotional, interesting and taught you something truly important. To never give up and keep trying. To fight, because you worth it. Because everybody deserves a whole, happy life. I can recommend it to everyone, who likes romance, a  tale with a message, or just searching a good book to read.
