Welcome to the hotel of secrets.

Everybody deals differently with a death of a loved one. Since her mother suddenly  passed away, the seventeen-year-old Audrey Casella has troublesome behaviors, meantime Daniel, her older brother, is in denial and their father seems, as someone, who stopped living. After the girl makes a raucous party at home, her father decides to send Audrey and Daniel to their grandmother's house for the summer. On their way to Elko, the girl's father decides to stop in a huge and beautuful place, called Hotel Ruby. After arriving, Kenneth, the concierge, gives rooms to Daniel and Audrey's father on the sixth floor, however he says, the girl will stay on thirteenth floor. Since it seems, she can not have another room, Audrey accepts it, and even that she feels the atmosphere of her floor strange, her doubts fade after seeing her room. Later she joins the party in the ballroom, where she meets Elias Lange and the cynical and beautiful Catherine. When Kenneth notices Audrey, he tells her to leave the party, because she has no invitation. The girl doesn't understand, why only she got none, when both Daniel and her father are invited to the ball. More and more strange things happen, the faint background music in Audrey's room, the creepy empty rooms of the thirtheenth floor and scary visions, not to mention the sudden change in her father's behavior. And after her father tells, that they will spend two more days there, Audrey decides it's time to start searching answers at the secrets of Hotel Ruby.

I liked the book very much. Even that I guessed the ending, but I am a notorious bookmaniac since I remember, so it is a little hard to surprise me, I enjoyed every page of the novel. The plot was interesting, with good characters and I really liked the dark, mysterious atmosphere of the story. Sometimes it reminded me at Stephen King's The Shining, as it would be a teen version of it.

Shorly, I recommend the book to everyone,  Hotel Ruby has an interesting plot with good charactets and a mysterious atmosphere. I will definitely reread it later.
